Black History Month at Camden Libraries
During October 2005 Camden Libraries presented a number of events to celebrate Black History Month. The theme for this year's Black History Month was music and events were across different branches throughout the borough. They included black opera music workshops, story and folk singing and live performances. To publicise these interesting events the library staff decided to take part in their own versions of Radio 4's 'Desert Island Discs'. Librarians were asked to choose 5 songs they'd take to a desert island with them. Their choices had to have been the work of black musicians.
