Interview with Asma Pumpi Moore, author of "What If"
In the twentieth and twenty first centuries, there have been many individuals who have fled societies where they have been subjected to extreme violence and persecution who have sought refuge here. Some lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people have been given the right to stay because they have a well founded fear of persecution in their country of origin. Others come through different routes but are essentially seeking refuge here. This is very often the case for women from all parts of the world. Camden Community Radio is based in Maiden Lane Community Centre, which lies at the heart of Maiden Lane Estate. Matina Grebener talks with Asma Pumpi Moore, “author of the autobiography “What If – A Shocking True Story", who once lived on Maiden Lane Estate.

  Ben Cooper interviews Marion Baraitser
It is often the case that people who share a similar identity, for instance being Jewish or Muslim or being of a particular nationality, can come to Britain under different circumstances. It is common for people of the same nationality to come to Britain in different roles at different times. There were Somali seamen who settled in East London after the war and later, in the 1990s, there were much larger numbers of Somali families who came as refugees from the civil war. Many Jews fled the pograms of Russia in the nineteenth and early twentieth century or the Nazis in Europe in the mid twentieth century. Other Jewish people came to London under different circumstances but are part of a cultural continuum that connects in important ways. Ben Cooper of CCRadio met someone who has crossed and continued to cross a lot of borders to make bridges. He talks with Marion Baraitser, founder of Loki Books, which translates work by women from other countries into English.

A Caribbean Migrant Perspective on Refugee Experiences
Another group of people who arrived about the same time as the Somali seamen were those who arrived on the Empire Windrush in 1948. People who have come to London from the Caribbean have had their very particular experience of prejudice and difficulty in London and other parts of Britain. To wanted to discover what someone who was part of the Caribbean migration to Britain share with a refugee arriving here, we talked with CCRadio's own “Peter Tosh”.

All Local People Share Concerns about the Future
When we look at shared futures, we see that there are things about which people in the local areas of Camden share common concerns. One of these is housing and land use policy as was made clear at a local demonstration about the fate of land at the back of the British Library, which locals feel should be used for much needed housing.
